Questions families ask
Questions families ask
Are the camps really free?
Yes. All COHYPOA youth activities are complimentary to Pompano Beach youth, thanks to local sponsors and partners. There is no tuition for families.
Who can enroll?
Programs serve Broward County youth, with a home base in Pompano Beach. Some camps (including Junior Chef) are reserved for District 5 neighborhoods and require proof of address. Ages vary by program — check the camp page.
Where do camps meet?
We use public, well-trafficked places: the Jan Moran Collier City Library, community kitchens, parks, and neighborhood rooms. Exact sites are shared with registered families before each session.
How do I reserve a seat?
Send an interest form on this site or call 754.207.3334. We follow up by email or phone to confirm eligibility, dates, and what to bring. Seats are first-come, first-served.
How can I volunteer or give?
Mentors, kitchen helpers, trail chaperones, and in-kind donors keep camps free. Visit Get Involved, give on our PayPal Giving Fund page, or email info@cohypoainc.org. Donations to our 501(c)(3) (EIN 82-4827821) are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How do you keep youth safe?
We run programs in public venues, keep communication open with parents and guardians, and take extra measures so children are safe. Read our Safety page, or call us with any concern.
Can I complete court or school service hours here?
Yes. Our Youth Service Hours program, in partnership with Florida DJJ’s Broward County Probation & Community Intervention Program (17th Circuit), places court-ordered youth at beaches, parks, and senior community centers. Students needing documented hours may request a placement too. Confirm with your case manager or school that the hours will count.
